CPVA - the Canadian
Peacekeeping Veteran Association, which represents about 150.000 UN-Veterans in Canada,
held in May 1988 a very special medal presentation, which the administrative Officer for
the CPVW Mr. William Willbond has written something about:
"At 1000
hrs 15 May 1998 the Executive Officers of the Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association
were presented with these prestigious commemorative medals at Government House by Her
Majestys Representative," His Excellancy Lieutenant Govenor Garde Gardom".
Our Executive Officers highly recommend the acquisition of these medals for our rank
and file members because:
A. They still
aint hireing too many machine gunners on civie street and B. If the Peacekeeping
Veteran has the Nobel Peace Prize Certificate (signed by the Minister of Defence for
Norway) attached to his resume, then perhaps it will give him or her a "foot in the
door" when seeking employment on civie street."
The attached photograph
was taken at Government House just after the prestigious presentaion ceremony, which was
attended by local dignitaries, the President of Norway House, the President of the UN
Association and close family members,
